About the Photos

Some of the photos I use to illustrate points on this site are photos taken by myself, or by family members. But one special photographer's work appears here frequently, and I would love for you to get acquanted with his work even better. He seems to love these mountains as much as I do! D. L. Winter struggles to survive Print E-mail
Winter is over (officially) in just a couple of weeks, and it's been another relatively mild one with little precipitation. So imagine our surprise when the forecasted snowstorm actually materialized and dumped NINE inches on us!  Beautiful, fluffy white snow that drifted against our doors and piled like whipped cream on top of our lawn furniture. At last the kids had the chance to use their sleds and snowboards and build snow people!  And for several days I'm sure I'll get to mop up puddles from them tracking in and out over and over.  But that's life.  I wonder if this is Winter's last gasp, a final flurry of seasonable weather just before the season changes.  After all, we did see a robin in the back yard yesterday!
