Snow means slow

A heavy snowfall brings silence. It slows the traffic and dulls the noise and hurry for awhile. Time to rest and think.

Crystal Clear

An ice storm is dangerous for driving. The weight of the ice can break branches from the trees and knock out electrical power. But the clarity of the ice and the way it sparkles in the sun is a thing of beauty.

What this is

Life in Floyd is like no place I've lived before. For more than twenty years I've been privileged to live in this peaceful and fertile region along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Most people can't pick up and move to a wonderful area like this, so I am attempting to share the joy of life in rural America while it still exists.
