About the Photos

Some of the photos I use to illustrate points on this site are photos taken by myself, or by family members. But one special photographer's work appears here frequently, and I would love for you to get acquanted with his work even better. He seems to love these mountains as much as I do! D. L. Ennis is a thoughtful and gifted photographer and writer. Visit his website here

Take a break... Print E-mail
Cooling off on the porch, taking the time to listen to the birds sing, or watching the fireflies dance...now that's living!

The coolest places to go Print E-mail

The old relic in the field is a silent reminder to us as we get older, use it while we have it, or lose it.

Fog slows us down Print E-mail
We love to watch for what we call "cotton candy mornings" here where the fog settles into the valleys like a layer of cotton. Fog is a reminder that we need to not only slow down, but stop and spend some time in contemplation.

Alone Print E-mail
Some of us fear being alone...alone with our thoughts, with our fears, our beliefs and disbeliefs. We fill every empty space with stuff, with noise, with activity. Living here has taught me that I am never alone.
