About the Photos

Some of the photos I use to illustrate points on this site are photos taken by myself, or by family members. But one special photographer's work appears here frequently, and I would love for you to get acquanted with his work even better. He seems to love these mountains as much as I do! D. L. Ennis is a thoughtful and gifted photographer and writer. Visit his website here

Sure is crazy weather
We went from 86 and humid to 60 and dry in just hours. The leaves are changing and the nights are cool enough to need a sweater and the heat on. Other parts of the country are already experiencing an early winter.

Everything must change
We are battling with sniffles and sneezes and congestion lately, typical symptoms of the changing seasons. Some call it allergies, some say it's a cold, but we feel confident it's just our bodies making the transition from one season to another.

Toadally awesome

Being able to take time to look around us is such a blessing (unless we are looking around the house at the things that need to be repaired or remodeled!) Today my son came in from outside with his hand cupped around the tiniest little toad I have ever seen.  He's so small he could curl up on my index fingernail.  A few minutes later he brought in another one, a little larger, but still amazingly small.
